Plain-language insights from our clinicians.
Before you book — the things people ask us.
Do I need a GP referral to see a psychologist?
No. You can book directly with any of our psychologists at any time. A GP referral and Mental Health Care Plan are only required if you'd like the Medicare rebate, which lowers the cost from $240 to about $143 per session.
How does the Medicare rebate work?
Your GP writes a Mental Health Care Plan that gives you access to up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year. We claim the rebate on the spot — you only pay the gap. See full rebate details →
How fast can I get an appointment?
Most new clients are matched within 24 hours and booked within a week. For urgent matters, telehealth slots open up most days. Start the free matcher →
Is telehealth as effective as in-person?
For most concerns, yes — research consistently shows comparable outcomes for anxiety, depression, ADHD coaching and grief. We'll recommend in-person if your specific situation benefits from it.
What happens in the first session?
We listen first. Your psychologist will ask about what's brought you in, what you've already tried, and what life would look like if things shifted. By session three, we have a shared plan.
What if I don't click with my psychologist?
Just tell us — there's no awkwardness. We'll match you with a different clinician at no cost. Fit matters more than any technique.
Do you accept private health funds?
Yes. We accept Bupa, NIB, HCF, Medibank and most major private health funds. Rebate amounts vary by fund and your level of cover.
Is what I share kept confidential?
Yes. All sessions are confidential and protected by Australian Privacy Principles. There are narrow legal exceptions (immediate risk to life, court subpoena) which your psychologist will explain in session one.
