Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Evidence-based CBT for anxiety, depression, and related conditions.
How it helps
CBT has the largest evidence base of any psychological therapy across multiple presentations (Cochrane reviews, NICE guidelines, APA practice guidelines). It works by identifying patterns of thinking and behaviour that maintain distress, then systematically changing both.
Mind Health clinicians use CBT in its modern, transdiagnostic form — incorporating behavioural activation, exposure, cognitive restructuring, and (where appropriate) third-wave techniques from ACT and schema therapy.

What to expect
First session
A collaborative assessment of what's keeping the problem going, your goals, history and current supports.
A shared plan
Your psychologist proposes a focused, time-limited plan — the techniques, the order, and how we'll measure progress.
Skills & practice
Weekly sessions build practical skills (behavioural activation, exposure, cognitive work) with between-session tasks.
Review & maintain
We track outcomes with brief measures and plan how to keep gains going once therapy ends.
Fees & funding
Therapy sessions may attract a Medicare rebate under a Mental Health Care Plan (Better Access) — ask your GP whether you're eligible for up to 10 subsidised sessions a year. Most private health 'extras' also cover psychology. We'll explain the gap fee before you book.
