Cognitive (IQ) Assessment at Mind Health

How it helps

A cognitive (IQ) assessment uses gold-standard, normed instruments — the Wechsler scales (WAIS-IV for adults, WISC-V for children) — to measure verbal comprehension, perceptual reasoning, working memory and processing speed.

The result is a clear picture of your cognitive profile: where your strengths lie, where support may help, and how this informs diagnosis, learning, work or NDIS planning.

Who it's for

Adults and young people seeking clarity about cognitive functioning — for diagnostic questions, giftedness, learning or workplace planning, or self-understanding.

What it helps with

  • Cognitive strengths & challenges
  • Giftedness
  • Intellectual disability
  • Diagnostic clarification
  • Learning & study planning
  • Self-understanding

Common questions

What does an IQ assessment measure?
Intellectual functioning across verbal comprehension, perceptual reasoning, working memory and processing speed — using standardised, normed tests.
How long does it take?
Usually one longer testing session, followed by a written report and a feedback discussion.
Do I need a referral?
A referral helps target the assessment and may enable funding, but isn't always essential — we'll advise.
Is it available by telehealth?
Cognitive testing is generally conducted in person to keep results valid and reliable.
